High winds around 5 p.m.  Saturday caused heavy damage to a recently repaired machine shed and two large John Deere planters parked inside at the farm of Daryl Triplett along Hwy. 59, about three miles south Primghar.

One large portion of the metal roof of the machine shed flew across Hwy. 59 and landed in a field 200 yards to the east. The large planters could be seen under the rubble of the roof and side walls.

By extreme chance, a severe wind storm came through Triplett’s farm this past spring and left this same machine shed completely destroyed.  After several months of reconstruction, the new machine shed had only been in use for the past few weeks when the high winds hit the structure Saturday.

Tree damage at other farmsteads and bent corn stalks were visible along Hwy. 59 between Primghar and Paullina.

Tree damage could be seen in Primghar, where large limbs landed on a shelter house and outdoor deck located at the Primghar City Park. Primghar also recorded a half-inch of rain in only a few minutes.
