A new food court built entirely of shipping containers will feature gourmet eats, craft beer and farm fresh groceries and flowers.Known as SteelCraft, the new permanent food plaza will open in Long Beach in February and will be the first of its kind in L.A. County, according to L.A. Weekly. Constructed of massive shipping containers on a currently empty lot, the court will feature four restaurants, a coffee shop, a farm stand, a flower shop and a tasting room from Torrance's Smog City Brewing Company. The project, which is being developed by Kim Gros, will occupy a 14,500-square-foot lot along Long Beach Boulevard in the neighborhood of Bixby Knolls.
"SteelCraft is designed to be communal space," Smog City's Laurie Porter tells L.A. Weekly. "Each on-site vendor has been handpicked to create the most well-rounded space possible."

There will also be gourmet vegan tacos bowls and more from OC's Seabirds, The Great Food Truck Race finalist Waffle Love, a deli called Working Class Kitchen and caffeinated brews from local Steelhead Coffee. Blooms by Brook will provide the flowers, while local farms will rotate through the space. The main structures will include 20- and 40-foot steel containers, and there will also be outdoor spaces.
